Helping High-Achieving Adults & Teens Break Free from Overwhelm and Self-Doubt

About

About Soothe in Strides Counseling

I'm Sarah and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor- but I'm also just another human, and I will treat our interactions as such.  I work with adults and teens who appear stable and successful externally but feel stuck, anxious, or overwhelmed internally. My clients are high-functioning, intelligent, and self-aware, yet struggle with perfectionism, comparison loops, body-image concerns, relationship ambivalence, or unresolved trauma.

I take a structured, accountability-focused approach. I don’t overvalidate—I push you to recognize patterns, make conscious choices, and regain control over your life.

Horses' Legs Close-Up
Treatment

Private sessions for adults and teens navigating career pressure, relationships crossroads, life transitions, and performance demands.

Anxiety & Overthinking

I work with high-functioning teens and adults who experience anxiety that is often hidden behind competence and achievement. This may show up as constant overthinking, rumination, worst-case-scenario thinking, difficulty relaxing, or feeling internally on edge even when life appears stable. Many of my clients feel driven and capable, yet privately exhausted by the pressure they place on themselves.

Life Transitions

Periods of transition often bring uncertainty, identity questions, and emotional intensity. I support adolescents adjusting from middle to high school, students transitioning into college, and adults navigating career changes, relationship reevaluations, or shifting life roles. These phases can activate fears about direction, attachment, and self-trust. Therapy provides structure and clarity during these pivotal moments.

Self-Esteem & Identity

Struggles with self-worth often extend beyond surface-level confidence. I work with individuals facing body image concerns, social comparison, imposter syndrome, and uncertainty about who they are outside of performance. For teens and young adults, this may involve identity development, belonging, and navigating social pressures during formative years.

Relationships & Attachment

Many clients come to therapy feeling stuck in relational patterns they don’t fully understand. This may include relationship ambivalence, fear of abandonment, difficulty trusting, emotional avoidance, or repeating unhealthy dynamics. Through insight-oriented exploration, we examine how early attachment experiences and learned defenses may be influencing present-day relationships.

Perfectionism & Control

Perfectionism can create a relentless internal standard that is difficult to meet and even harder to sustain. I help clients who struggle with all-or-nothing thinking, harsh self-criticism, productivity-based self-worth, and burnout. For some, slowing down feels uncomfortable or unsafe. Together, we work to separate identity from achievement and build healthier, more sustainable expectations.

Performance & Achievement Stress

I support athletes, equestrians, students in competitive programs, and professionals in high-responsibility roles who are managing achievement-related stress. High standards can drive success but also increase emotional dysregulation and burnout. My work focuses on maintaining ambition while strengthening emotional regulation, resilience, and balance.
